A Short Review of the New HTC HD7
The HTC HD7 was the first Windows Phone 7 based smartphone that was announced way before the other models and competitor phones. It is currently the largest phone in the WP7 stable ñ you could call it the Hummer of Windows 7 phones, just like another phone from this company, the Evo 4G is for Android phones.
The main feature of the HD 7 is its big 4.3 inch screen, which is great for any applications, even though the phone is specifically marketed as a multimedia and entertainment device. On the back, youíll see a 5 megapixels camera that can shoot 720p video (which can also be edited on the phone with the right software), and another useful feature, a kickstand that can make the phone sit well on a desk while youíre watching a video, listening to music or managing your calendar.
The battery life is affected by the screen, of course, and is much lower than what youíd get from smaller phones with a similar 1200 mAh battery. That may be a problem if you carry the phone around with you everywhere, but with its 122x68x11 mm size and 162 grams of weight, itís pretty difficult to do so. Youíll most probably just use it in your home, office and car ñ and have a charger for each situation.
Other specs worth noting include Draft N Wifi, which youíll find is very useful for both surfing the Web and transferring files between your phone and any computer (or other device), Bluetooth 2.1, and a GPS transceiver which works with Bing Maps (a pretty good alternative to Google Maps, at least until their app is out
.
The HTC HD7 is certainly a great phone, and even although itís a bit too big for some peopleís tastes, it will find its customers. How many it finds might well depend on the mobile phone offers that customers can find for this handset. For the right price, this is a gadget many would be proud to own.
